Your Cat’s Life at a Glance Age 0 - 4 months8 weeks – Health Exam and 1st Vaccinations 12 weeks – Health Exam and Vaccinations 16 weeks – Rabies Vaccination De-worming medications are given during one or more of these visits. Kitten food should be fed until 6-8 months of age. Age 5 - 6 months We recommend spaying or neutering at this age.
These procedures are done to prevent excessive and often unwanted litters. This procedure also prevents cancers, infections of the reproductive system and behavioral problems such as aggression and spraying in male cats. Spaying eliminates the unusual howling and behavior of a female cat in heat. Age 1 - 6 years During this time we recommend yearly examinations and vaccines if needed. Our veterinarians, upon examination, may suggest dental cleaning. Clean teeth ensures decreased health issues and longer life. Vaccines are protecting your cat against disease and viruses they may get from other cats, the environment or even from you. Routine de-worming is suggested. Age 7 years and older. As your cat ages we still recommend yearly visits. Monitoring of their physical health and dental examinations are required. Routine blood work may be recommended as well. This screens your pet for any potential health problems that may not be physically obvious. Catching problems early means more effective treatment and a longer life span. Senior or mature cat food is suggested as the body’s requirements change. Your Dog’s Life at a Glance coming soon |
